AI doesn’t have to mean fewer people. It can mean better use of people.

IKEA used AI to take on routine customer service work, but instead of reducing headcount, they redeployed employees into higher-value roles like design advisory services and more complex customer interactions. The result wasn’t just efficiency gains, it created a meaningful new revenue stream.

This feels like an important reminder for leaders as we think about AI adoption: → Automate tasks, not purpose → Reskill ahead of disruption → Move people toward the work humans do best: judgment, creativity, relationships, problem-solving, and creating value

AI shouldn’t just make work faster. It should make work better. What a great example of how to do just that.
