ArTechGarage builds restaurant tech. We also operate one (Avila Kitchen, soft-launching in Miami). That gave us a clear view from the operator side of what actually moves the needle in a small restaurant — and what every vendor sells you that nobody actually uses.
Here’s what genuinely pays off:
A clean website. Loads under 2 seconds, menu visible without clicks, phone tappable.
WhatsApp AI for orders and reservations. Deflects 50 to 70% of repetitive messages.
A menu the owner can update without calling a developer.
One round of real food photography. 600, one time, lasts years.
What to skip: self-order kiosks, AI demand prediction, loyalty apps with their own login, table-side tablets. None of those move the needle for a 40-seat restaurant.
Realistic total to go fully digital: 5,000 one-time. Not the $20K agencies quote — and we know because we ran our own build at that number.
Full write-up with our pilot restaurant as the case study (real numbers, real timeline, from the operator chair) here: https://lnkd.in/eMwUBdQe
