🚀 Excited to share that our paper “Teleoperation Architectures for Remote Ultrasound Diagnostic Imaging: A Systematic Review” has been published IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering!
Tele-ultrasound is rapidly evolving thanks to advances in robotics, haptics, and AI, but a comprehensive analysis of teleoperation architectures was still missing. In our review, we screened 1243 papers and selected 151 studies, analyzing 39 complete tele-ultrasound systems. We focused on how architectural choices including leader–follower design, control strategies, force feedback, passivity layers, and communication delays affect transparency, stability, safety, and usability under realistic conditions. ✅Our work highlights the importance of evaluating these systems not only from an ultrasound perspective, but also from a teleoperation standpoint.
